POPULAR AND HUMAN RIGHTS ORGANIZATIONS STAND IN SOLIDARITY WITH THE STUDENT STRUGGLE

Tegucigalpa. Concerned about the persecution and criminalization suffered by university students, for defending the right to public education and autonomy, the Committee of Solidarity with the University Student Movement was created yesterday.

This Committee will carry out various actions in support of the student struggle in the different regional centers and aspires that or after organizations join the defense of public education and to achieve an inclusive truth process in the election of the next university authorities.

We denounce the stigmatization and hate campaign of the university authorities against students and professors who have questioned the actions of the privatization of the highest house of studies and the application of the university reform.

The presentation of the Committee was held at the main entrance of the university in the Honduran capital and later it was integrated into the mobilization in the one called by the University Student Movement (MEU).

This committee is formed by the National Network of Human Rights Defenders, the Black Fraternal Organization of Honduras (OFRANEH), the Civic Council of Popular and Indigenous Organizations of Honduras (COPINH), the Broad Movement for Dignity and Justice (MADJ), Association for Democracy and Human Rights of Honduras (ASOPODEHU), the Reflection, Research and Communication Team (ERIC), Center for Women’s Rights (CDM), Center for Women’s Studies (CEM-H), Committee for Free Expression (C-Libre), CIPRODEH, Association of mothers of criminalized students, among others.

From the Platform of the Popular and Social Movement of Honduras (PMSPH) we embrace the student struggle and celebrate the articulation of the organizations for the solution of this conflict that is of national interest.
